I think this is being overthought. I think it’s a straight up case of Oda having a cool idea and just going with it, without feeling pressure to make it make sense. To be fair, One Piece is full of that sort of thing. And fans tie themselves in knots trying to theorise it all to the Nth degree. I didn't see the pole, but I do want to say I do think that Robins demon form is not an awakening from my point of view, at least not a full one. In my mind her devil fruit name has never made full sense, at least in English the flower flower fruit, that is until now; flowers come in verity of colour even those of the same breed, so why should Robin not also be able to change the color of her body given different environment and circumstances, such as the emotional mind games during the Black Maria fight. Also given that she has formed her limbs into other types of appendages I don't see why she cannot form them into any living thing. Therefore I posit that Robins true awakening, which I think this is a step towards, will be the ability to grow a copy of any living thing within the range of her ability, something I think is within the scope of her devil fruit has been doing, with only the addition of a flowers ability to change color, which is still feasibly within what I can imagine to be possible.

I'm on the "secret zoan" train. As Kaido noted during Luffy's snakeman, transformations/forms are indicative of a zoan ability, and not suited by paramecias. In the case that this is a zoan, it is most likely not an awakening. That is all.

Robin's ability evolution is mind-blowing. I love the theory that it's an Awakening, showcasing how far she's come since her "devil child" days. The comparison to Luffy's gear transformations is spot-on too. Whether it's Haki, Awakening, or something else, Robin's demon form is a testament to her growth and creativity. Awakening or not, Robin's Demonio Fleur is absolutely epic! 🔥

I like the idea it's an awakening. We know she spent two years with the revolutionary army. They didn't just teach her new things about the world but how better to use her powers and haki. She might not be as strong as the main fighters on the crew but she's one of the most versatile and defiantly intelligent. I'd wager this was at least foreshadowing if not outright her using an awakening, but it likely drains her so it's a trump card she can't use at will. Look at Luffy every time he uses Gear 5 he's exhausted and visibly older and drained by it's use.
